Jay McKay

Cultural Archivist | Painter of Memory and Resistance
Jay McKay is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores the emotional architecture of place, lineage, and survival. Rooted in the aesthetics of the Gulf South, McKay’s paintings and mixed-media works function as cultural archives—holding stories that might otherwise be erased by displacement, criminalization, or the slow violence of inequity.
His practice is grounded in the belief that art can bear witness where institutions fail to do so. Through layered textures, bold palettes, and symbolic motifs, McKay renders visible the quiet heroism of everyday people navigating systems not built for their protection. His partnership with GOT GOT Studios reflects his commitment to transforming personal narrative into collective advocacy, ensuring that art not only reflects the world but helps repair it.
